- Receiving a material or financial benefit for committing or facilitating human trafficking

What are the penalties for human trafficking?
Penalties for human trafficking charges depend on the victim’s age and the type of the committed offence:
- For human trafficking of persons over the age of 18 (adults), a maximum penalty is being sentenced to imprisonment for life if the case involves sexual assault, kidnapping, aggravated assault, or death.
- If a human trafficking case involves any other type of offence, a maximum term of imprisonment is 14 years.
- For human trafficking of persons under the age of 18 (minors), a mandatory minimum incarceration term is six years if the defendant committed sexual assault, aggravated assault, or the trafficked child died.
- In all other cases of human trafficking involving minors, the defendant can be imprisoned for at least five years.
